Multimodal Logistics Parks Transform Supply Chain Efficiency
India is accelerating the development of multimodal logistics infrastructure as it works to make freight movement faster, more integrated and cost-efficient.
The country’s Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) are designed to bring together road, rail and other transport networks with modern warehousing, storage and cargo-handling facilities. This allows goods to move more efficiently between manufacturing centres, consumption markets and ports.

🚛 Rail–Road–Port Connectivity
The expansion is closely linked with PM Gati Shakti, Dedicated Freight Corridors and the National Logistics Policy. The objective is to reduce bottlenecks, improve last-mile connectivity and encourage a greater share of freight to move through more efficient transport modes.

📦 Lower Logistics Costs
Integrated logistics infrastructure can reduce unnecessary handling, improve cargo consolidation and shorten transit times. A CII–Knight Frank assessment reported India’s logistics costs at approximately 10–10.7% of GDP in FY2026, down from an estimated 13–14% a decade earlier.

🌐 Boost to EXIM Trade
For exporters and importers, better connections between factories, warehouses, freight corridors and ports can improve supply-chain reliability and competitiveness.
The government’s broader logistics strategy also uses digital platforms such as ULIP to improve information sharing, cargo visibility and coordination across the logistics ecosystem.

With continued investment in MMLPs, cargo terminals, freight corridors and port connectivity, India is building an increasingly integrated logistics network to support manufacturing, domestic trade and EXIM growth.
Key takeaway:
Road + Rail + Ports + Warehousing = Faster, More Efficient Indian Supply Chains.
